Haemophilia awards programme

The Bayer Haemophilia Awards Programme began in 2002 and pledges grants totaling £1.5 million annually to researchers, treaters and healthcare professionals working in haemophilia.

Bayer believes the awards programme will enable healthcare professionals currently working in haemostasis to push forward the scientific understanding of diseases such as haemophilia. Furthermore the programme will allow the treatment of patients to be improved and provide educational opportunities to allied healthcare professionals such as nurses and physical therapists.

One of the key aims of the programme is to encourage more young physicians to pursue a career as a haemophilia treater to ensure that the next generation of patients have access to the quality of care that today's patients enjoy.

A unique aspect of the awards programme is its global nature. Bayer encourages applications from all around

the world. To date, 32 countries have participated in the programme and applicants from 23 countries have received an award.
